Following the retirement of noted antique clock dealer and author Derek Roberts at the beginning of 2018, I am pleased to announce that we have taken over the running of Derek’s business, Derval Antiques, with the stock appearing on both this website and www.dervalantiques.com.
Edenbridge Galleries Talk
At the end of November 2015 I spent a wonderful weekend with Lennox & Sue Cato at the Edenbridge Galleries in Kent showing a selection of carriage clocks and giving a lecture on the clocks and lives of both the Jacot and Drocourt families. It was lovely to catch up with my old mentor Derek Roberts and spend a couple of evenings discussing the clock world.
British Horological Institute: Talk on carriage Clocks
I had a most wonderful evening giving a talk on the carriage clocks and lives of both the Jacot and Drocourt families to the South-London branch of the British Horological Institute in June 2017.
New stock added to the website at the beginning of May 2018
January 2017: Having taken delivery of the library of horological reference books belonging to one of the world’s leading antique clock specialists, including many rare & sought-after examples, a new area within the website will be set-up in the near future making these available for sale.
Both the Jacot and Drocourt catalogues were updated in October 2017 to show some additional research. The Max Cutmore catalogue is now in an easier pdf format to view.
In mid-September 2015 I was invited by a group of horological enthusiasts, who were on a tour of the south-west led by Steve & Jean Jackman who run the Quality Time clock courses in Sussex, to undertake a talk on the carriage clocks of Jacot and Drocourt at Pentillie Castle in Saltash, a wonderful small hotel with fine views over the Tamar and beyond.A quite sumptuous dinner was followed by a discussion of my research complete with images illustrating the various points made, alongside the viewing of thirty-five plus clocks by these two makers. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.
